Coming of Enigma

In this lecture, Dr. David Perry (cryptologic mathematician at the National Security Agency) discusses the Enigma, a cryptodevice used by the Germans before and during World War II. Analysts initially believed the Enigma code-writing machine was unbreakable. Perry addresses how the machine worked and why it was thought to be so secure. He also discusses the history of code making and breaking, which informed the machine's design.
