Cranial Nerve Exam - Anatomy 15 - Traps: A 6th nerve palsy may be a "false localizing sign." The reason for this is that it has the longest intracranial route of all the intracranial nerves. Therefore it is the most susceptible to pressure that can occur with any cause of increased intracranial pressure.
