Increased Access to Electricity Creates Better Opportunities in Rwanda
The Government of Rwanda is increasingly focused on connecting the country to the grid. This initiative is transforming lives. There has been a 70% increase in electricity connections to schools and health centers. As part of a Bank-supported electrification project, over 1,400 km of new networks were built and electricity connections tripled. Nearly one million Rwandans gained access to electricity between 2009 and 2012.
