World Bank Group and ApexBrasil Support the Country's Frontier States of Para and Pernambuco Generate Investments and Create Jobs

Investment Climate teams of the World Bank Group have been working with the government of Brazil since 2009 to build capacity and attract investment to the frontier states of Para and Pernambuco where high rates of poverty and unemployment are equal to those of the world's poorest countries. Since the start of the program, the national investment promotion agency APEX-Brazil, which also fully funded this work, has helped facilitate 55 announced investments. To date, about $60 million and 3,000 jobs have already been created. The video illustrates the success story. First-hand interviews with small business owners and government officials describe the context of the reform program as well as remaining challenges.
