Designing and Developing a Commercial Delivery Drone

Unmanned aerial vehicles are a technology quickly emerging as a solution in numerous sectors. UAVs refer to a pilot-less aircraft that functions via synthesis of technology such as GPS, computer vision, and object avoidance. UAV applications are countless, ranging from military operations to aerial cinematography. 2006 was the year the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted commercial drone permits, thus allowing drone delivery of items such as pharmaceuticals, food, and small retail items. Since then, the commercial market for drone use in services has been marked around $127 billion. Because of the relative novelty of the technology, growing industry, and accessibility of components, I pursued the design, development, and operation of a delivery drone.
