Wikinews for Wikipedians (or other Wikimedians)

With very little practice, anyone who can write neutrally can get a spot on the Wikinews front page. Who knows? If you can find some photographs to go on your article then it may go straight to a lead position.

Discover some of the project peculiarities and see the site in action on one of the most significant news events in recent years, the London Tube bombings.

Our presentation, entitled "Wikinews for Wikipedians", encourages users from other projects to try their hand at writing a news story.

We believe that, in a little under an hour, anyone who can competently write can have an article on the front page of the English Wikinews. While there are slow-developing stories and investigative work to carry out, in most cases a breaking piece of news can be pushed out the door in short order.

Wikinews is fun, and rewarding. The high visibility of contributions encourages people to stick around and keep working away.
