Wikimedia Serbia was founded in 2005 as the fifth chapter of Wikimedia. So far, most of its work revolved around presentation of Wikimedia projects in Serbia, through lectures, meetings and distribution of leaflets and similar promotional material; hosting of Wikimedian meetups in Belgrade; and, recently, supporting localisation of CC licences to Serbian language and legal system. Wikimedia Serbia plans more and more diverse projects, including publishing more promotional material and WikiReaders; obtaining neccessary literature and access to media databases for Wikimedia projects' members; digitalisation of material usable for Wikimedia projects and freeing existing digital material; translation of free material. However, given Serbia's political and economic position, it faces significant challenges.
