This presentation is about the development of Engineering knowledge in Arabic on Wikipedia. The approach here is to decompose the intricate bulk of knowledge available in the engineering and technology realm into simple elements, each can be an entry to an article within Wikipedia, and through systematic arrangement and classification of these entries and through following a reasonable criteria on the content of each article, each engineering topic can be covered in such a way that can be of benefit to everyone in the engineering field.

The presntation will cover the following points: 1- what can constitute "useful knowledge" within the engineering field? 2- what are the possible ways in which such knowledge can be broken down into simple elements? 3- what are the possible ways to represent this knowledge to be easily grasped? 4- what are the particular wiki features that are useful in this regard? 5- How to develop and organize a knowledge society that would benefit from, and further develop, this engineering knowledge? 6- What kind of quality standards should be developed in order to make sure that the new material serves the purpose? 7- How to consoidate the Arabic terminology used in the engineering field? 8- How to provide the supporting materials such as images and animations while observing the copy rights? 9- How to increasingly attract people who are more specialized in the subject matter to contribute? 10- How to provide for the aspect of knowledge that cannot be taught in books (related to the experience or the intuition)?
